Srinagar, Apr 17 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday took a dig at PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for accepting A.S. Dulat’s recent book “THE CHIEF MINISTER AND THE SPY”, saying if she considers everything written in it true, she should also answer for what was written about her father in Dulat’s earlier book.

“If Mehbooba Ji considers everything written by Dulat Sahib to be true, then should we also consider what he wrote about her father in his first book true?” CM Omar said while speaking to reporters, as per news agency JKNS.

“If we consider it the truth, then she should answer the question of how she will make the people believe it,” he said.

He accused the former RAW official of publishing controversial content only to boost book sales. “To sell his book, it is Dulat Sahib’s habit not to go with the truth.

In his first book, he did not spare anyone, and in this book, he did not leave any stone unturned to humiliate Farooq Sahib,” CM Omar said.

“It is said that when you have friends like this, there is no need for enemies. Finally, Farooq Sahib has found out the truth about Dulat Sahib,” he said.

When asked about the Waqf Act hearing in Parliament, the J&K National Conference leader said, “We hope that when the verdict is pronounced, there will be solutions to the issues raised by the Muslim community in the Waqf Act. There should be no violence over this Bill.”

On the recent statement from Pakistan Army Chief concerning Kashmir, Omar said, “This is nothing new. They have been saying this for a long time. When you talk about Indian territory occupied by Pakistan, why don’t you also raise the issue about the portion of Ladakh which China has taken?” (JKNS)

Srinagar, Apr 17 : A day after a tourist family’s shikara overturned in Dal Lake due to sudden bad weather, concerns are mounting over the absence of safety protocols and official response.

“It’s pure luck they made it out alive,” said Zahoor Ahmad, a shikara operator. “There was no system in place to stop rides in such weather. We’ve been raising this for years.”

Eyewitnesses said there were no life jackets or safety personnel present when the boat flipped. Local residents rushed to rescue the tourists, with no help from officials.

“Why can’t they stop shikara rides during storms or issue weather warnings?” asked Mehmooda Bano, a local resident. “Authorities only act when someone dies.”

Priyanka Sharma, a tourist from Delhi who was on the boat, said, “There were no jackets, no emergency support. We were lucky local boatmen saved us.”

Locals and tourism stakeholders have urged the administration to enforce mandatory safety rules before another tragedy occurs. (JKNS)
